A Study on the Job Stress of Nurses in Hospital


Abstract
The purposes of this study are to identify the relationship between the job stress of nurses working in hospital and the related factors, and to provide basic data for the development of an appropriate stress management policies.
The respondents are 200 clinical nurses who are working in medical facilities, located lksan city. Among them, the 180 respondents were analyzed.
The contents of the survey were classified into two large groups; the general characteristics and the job-related stress.
The results of this study are as follows :
The job stress scores of the respondents showed high score, the average 3.69(maximum score 5). This indicates that many nurses are working under the high job stress. And the stress resulted from conflict with doctors was the highest score(4.21), whereas the job mess score from the related family and patient care is 3.89.
In detail, the stress from the respondent¢¥s payment was most high in age group, 26-29 years old. The reason is that this age group has the passion for working in hospital. Therefore, they face the conflict with the doctors and the other workers due to the increased interaction with them.
As the frequency of the night workings increased, the stress score is increased as well. The stress due co the related educational level is the promotion and salary. The married respondents want the more emotionally stable in jab situations.
The level of stress by the working departments, the department of emergency had the highest score, 4.05. This indicates that the department of emergency is much stressful, due to overwork and the interactions with the varied patients and the relatives.
Finally, many nurses are under the menially and physically stress in working conditions. To solve this issues, we have to seek the considerable supporting systems and develope the practical policies.
